Ohhhh, I am excited about sharing these pictures with y’all! I was so honored to be asked to be part of a friend’s wedding a few weeks ago; and guess what?! I got to go to Tennessee to do it; a state I’ve lived in before. :) And it isn’t just any state; it’s one of the most gorgeous states there is, or at least in my humble opinion… ;) Beautiful, crisp, rolling hills… Water, and lots of it… White country houses nestled atop those rolling hills… Pasture-lands surrounded by miles of white fence, filled with glorious stallions and speckled cows…. Ok, you get the picture. ;) Anyways, all that to say, my friend’s wedding being held in Tennessee, made it even more special. :)
So, let me briefly give you a summary of how my friend, Atlanta and I know each other; our families met at a Civil War reenactment in Tennessee, yeaaaaaars ago. Well, we ended up moving to Texas, where Atlanta and her family lived, did a million (ok, maybe not quite that many…) more reenactments together, and that’s pretty much how we came to know each other. We rarely saw each other in “regular clothes”! :)
Atlanta, being a Civil War fan and amazing seamstress that she is, decided to have a Civil War era wedding. Clothes, decorations, desserts, you name it; it was as if you stepped back in time! I even wore my sister’s Civil War black mourning dress! Typically, you wouldn’t see someone in black at a wedding in the 1860’s but hey, photographers are supposed to wear black, right?! ;)
Pssst; going back to Atlanta being an amazing seamstress, you need to check her blog out! She does beautiful work! Recently, a replica of a dress from “Young Victoria” she created, was on display at the Blenhiem Palace in Oxfordshire, England! Yes, she’s that good! :) So if you ever are in a need of a costume, Atlanta’s the gal for ya!
And now that I’ve chattered away, I’ll stop talking and start showing you pictures of this beautiful bride and her special day; her special day with her special guy..
The day before the wedding, we took the “girl” photos; bride/sisters/bridesmaids… so today I”ll share those photos, in order to keep this post from taking an hour to look through. ;)
Part two shall come later…
Atlanta made all of hers, her family’s, and her groom’s wedding clothes!
This tree… as soon as we saw it, we knew we just had to do an Alice In Wonderland shot. It was so… magical! :)
We discovered a HUGE “hole” nearby that was the most perfect place, and when I say “perfect”, I mean the best imaginable place for taking pictures… Ever. Green moss covering everything, rocky walls with trees growing out of them… You catch my drift. ;) I felt like I had just stepped into Prince Caspian’s forest! I may have even seen Aslan. ;) Anyways…yes, it was beautiful!
Part two…coming soon. :)
great job Sophie, you captured the weekend perfectly, I couldn’t be more pleased. windy
Ohhh I’m so happy!! Did you get your CDs yet? I mailed them to you a few days ago…
yes, I got them and am enjoying them. We went to the Mexia reenactment this weekend, so I’ve been away from my computer. windy
How very, very neat! I love the idea of a Civil War-era wedding…can’t wait to see the pictures! And those photos in Prince Caspian’s forest…look EXACTLY like Prince Caspian’s forest! : ) So cool!
Awesome photos, Soph! I especially like the Alice in Wonderland shots, you could fool someone into thinking those are actually from the movie!! :o)
Thanks Cody! :) haha, that would be fun! :)
Beautiful pictures, Sophie!! Love, Grandma C.

Ooooooh, Sophie!!! There truly aren’t even words to describe how happy these pictures make me. :) I am so proud of you and so happy that you girls had such a great time together. I can just see the joy behind these photos. It looks like you had so much funnn!! Okay, I love the getting ready photos. Yes. Yes. Yes! And I love the singles of Atlanta, with her sitting at the base of that beautiful, old tree and the close up of her ring right after! And her portrait photos right after that are composed to perfection. :) OHH- and then the one of her in all the branches! Goooorgeous!! I am beside myself!!
